|
Our Austrian team member Veronika "Vroni" Haid competed early December in Pula, Croacia and finished second in the women´s fleet! Good start for the winter sailing season.
Tuula and Heidi Tenkanen and Veronika travelled then to Palamós to compete in the classical event "Palamós Christmas race". We had really good training before regatta and regatta itself went also well: all our girls competed in the final medal race! Vroni did extremely well in medal race finishing third in this race and she was able to climb up from 10th to 8th position overall. Heidi´s final result was 7th and Tuula finished again 5th like last year in this event.
Natasa Christodoulou from Cyprus also joined our training in Palamós and she sailed also well finishing 18th out of 29 female Radial competitors.
All the results and some nice photos of Tuula in the following address: www.christmasrace.org
The next event for Heidi and Vroni will be Miami Olympic classes regatta in January.

The new ISAF world sailing ranking list was published yesterday. Tuula Tenkanen is now on 18th place in the world. There are 403 female Radial sailors on the ranking list. She made her debut on the international ranking just two years ago at age of 15. Her position was then 270th. Last year after winning Youth World Championships she made first time top 100 and she was 98th on list list published 29.8.2007. She is also clearly the best young sailor(born 1990 or later) on the list. The next best young sailor is Elizabeth Yin from Singapore on 43rd place.
