Ida Voutilainen is the Finnish Champion 2009
Tuesday, 09 June 2009

Laser 4.7 and Laser standard Finnish Championships were hold at Lake Näsijärvi in Tampere last weekend. There were 56 sailors taking part in this championship.

Ida Voutilainen sailed well in all wind conditions and finished top three in six races out of nine. She won one race on windy Friday and an other on Sunday in light wind. Competition was tight on the top, but finally Ida won with 5 points advantage to Kaarle Tapper. Third was Otso Ahvonen. Noora Koskiahde was again with our team and she finished 5th overall and was clearly the 2nd best girl.

Ida and Noora were also selected to Finnish Laser 4.7 European team and they will represent Finland next August in Laser 4.7 European Championships. The next regattas for Ida and Noora will be Helsinki regatta 27.-28.6.2009 and Laser Europa Cup in Warnemünde, Germany 4.-7.7.2009.

Congratulations Ida! It´s your first gold medal in Finnish Championships!

In Laser standard Mattias Lindfors took bronce medal after the winner Pierre Angelo Collura and silver medallist Sari Multala. It was the first Finnish Championship medal for Mattias in men´s olympic class. Congratulations! Heidi Tenkanen was 6th and the best youth under 19 in men´s olympic class. Interesting achievement for 17-year old female sailor, who will represent Finland in Laser Radial at ISAF Youth Worlds in Brasil in July.

The next regatta for Heidi, Mattias and Tuula will be olympic classes World Cup event in Kiel 19.-24.6.2009
